How to Choose a Shredder

A&E Business Products is here to help you choose the best shredder to fit your application. There are three simple questions that need to be answered in order for your dealer to provide you with a shredder that meets your
needs. They are:
  1. How much do you shred each day?
  2. What level of security do you need?
  3. Are you just shredding paper, or do you need to destroy computer media also?

Shredder Capacity
Personal  Shredders: Not more then 100 sheets per day
Small Office Shredders: Not more then 500 sheets per day
Office Shredders:  :  Not more then 2,500 sheets per day
Departmental Shredders: Not more then 15,000 sheets per day
High Capacity Shredders:  : 20390 Series: Not more then 35,000 sheets per day
20450 Series: Not more then 2 tons of paper per day
20550 Series: Not rated
Remember that your shredding volume will increase with time, so be sure to factor in growth when making a selection.

Security Levels

Security Level 1  :

For shredding general internal documents

Security Level 2  :

For shredding sensitive internal documents

Security Level 3  : 

For shredding confidential documents

Security Level 4  :

For shredding secret documents

NSA/CSS 02-01  :

Highest security level for the secure destruction of Top Secret COMSEC documents
Security Level 1 and 2 shredders are generally "Strip-cut" while the higher levels are "Cross-cut"

Paper and Multimedia Shredders

 Shredders don't just shred paper anymore.  Most models will accept those things that come with paper such as paper clips and staples.  Some will even shred floppy discs and CD-Roms with your paper, completing your data destruction needs.
